Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) general secretary TTV Dhinakaran on Friday slammed the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK)-led government for not launching a Singapore special police wing to deal with cases of violence against women.

In a post on his social media handle, he wondered how Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, who approved the creation of the proposed wing as one of the three proposals approved on his swearing-in day, would ensure women’s safety.

Referring to the spate of cases of crimes against women, Mr. Dhinakaran asked that if the situation would return to normal only after the appointment of a full-fledged Director General of Police, why should the state have a “horse-trading government”.
