Trump makes final decision on Iran deal, lays out 5 conditions: Tehran “must agree to…” | Today’s news

US President Donald Trump said he would make a final decision on Friday on a deal with Iran to extend their ceasefire. “I will now meet in the situation room to make the final decision,” he said, referring to the White House’s nerve center for monitoring global crises.

In an interview with Truth Social, Trump outlined six firm, unyielding conditions under which the US is prepared to permanently lift its “amazing” naval blockade and organize a highly complex excavation and destruction of Iran’s deeply buried enriched nuclear materials.

Trump has made clear that any comprehensive settlement depends on Tehran permanently giving up its nuclear weapons ambitions, along with the immediate and unconditional opening of the world’s most critical oil hub.

Trump’s 6 conditions

In a post on TRUTH social media, Trump said:

1. “Iran must agree that it will never have a nuclear weapon or a bomb.”

2. “The Strait of Hormuz must be opened immediately, without tolls, to unlimited shipping in both directions.”

3. “All water mines (bombs), if any, will be terminated (we have detonated a number of such mines with our excellent underwater mines. Iran will complete the immediate removal and/or detonation of any remaining mines, which will not be many!)”

4. “Ships trapped in the Straits due to our amazing and unprecedented naval blockade, which will now be lifted, can begin the process of ‘heading home’!”

5. “Enriched material, sometimes referred to as ‘nuclear dust’, which is buried deep underground with practically collapsed mountains, caused by our powerful B2 bomber attack 11 months ago, is being sat on by the United States (which, as agreed, is the only country, along with China, mechanically capable of doing this!), in close coordination and cooperation with the Energy Agency, Iran and the Atom. DESTROYED.”

Concluding his post, Trump said: “No money will be exchanged, until further notice. Other items, much less important, have been agreed upon.”

Trump confirmed that the final draft is now being discussed at the highest levels of the US military and intelligence command.

He said he is holding a White House Situation Room meeting with his advisers on Friday as he tries to make a “final decision” on moving forward with a deal to extend the Iran ceasefire.’

Earlier Thursday, Vice President JD Vance confirmed a tentative deal had been reached, but said it was unclear whether Trump would approve it.

“It’s hard to say exactly when or if the president will sign,” Vance told reporters.

He added: “We go back and forth on several language points.”

What did Iran say?

Iran’s Parliament Speaker MB Ghalibaf has previously said that Iran does not trust guarantees. He only believes in actions.

In a post on X, he said: “1- We get concessions not through dialogue, but through missiles; we only make them mean when we negotiate. 2- We don’t trust guarantees or words – only actions are the measure. No action will be taken until the other side intervenes. 3- The winner of any deal is the one who is better prepared for war the day after.”

Iran’s Tasnim news agency reported that the text of a possible US-Iran memorandum of understanding has been amended in recent days and is not yet final.
