
The US Ministry of Justice was accused by two Chinese nationals for alleged smuggling of a dangerous biological pathogen to the country to conduct research at the University of Michigan.
According to Yunqing Jian (33) and Zunyong Liu (34), associated with the Chinese Communist Party, faces charges, including conspiracy and visas fraud. They face charges including conspiracy, smuggling and false statements.
The FBI director Kash Patel in the X contribution said that the pathogen, the Fusarium graminearum, represents significant risks for agriculture and health.

The FBI arrested Jiana in connection with the allegations related to Jian and Liu’s mushrooms called Fusarium Graminearum, which scientific literature classifies as a potential agroteroristic weapon to the US.

Patel in the X contribution, the FBI director Kash Patel said: “Liu reportedly lied first, then admitted to smuggle the Fusarium Graminearum to America – through the Detroit Metropolitan Airport – so he could also conduct the University of Michigan research.”
“This case is a perennial reminder that CCP is working continuously to deploy workers and researchers to infiltrate US institutions and focus on our food supply, which would have serious consequences … exposure to American life and our economy at serious risk,” he added.

Justice will be done, Patel said.
Chevorye Gibson, a special agent responsible for the field office Detroit FBI, said: “Federal accusations submitted today against Yunqing Jian and Zunyong Liu, both citizens of the People’s Republic of China, represent a significant step forward to protect our communities and strengthen national security.”
Gibson said that these individuals used their approach to laboratory facilities at the local university to engage in biological pathogens, which represents an immediate threat to public security. This afternoon, Jian will appear at the Federal Court in Detroit for her initial performance.
