The Telangana government has set a target of constructing one million houses under the Indiramma Towers scheme in the Core Urban Region Economy (CURE), with the project being implemented in three phases.

Revenue and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy has directed officials to identify suitable government land on war footing to speed up construction.

In a review meeting with Collectors and other representatives of Hyderabad, Rangareddy and Medchal-Malkajgiri districts at the State Secretariat in the city on Friday (October 23, 2026), the minister emphasized that the government intends to provide houses to poor families near their existing residence so that their livelihoods are not disrupted.

The government conducted program constituencies, with each Assembly constituency being treated as a unit. The Minister directed the Collectors to complete the identification of land for the first phase and pre-arrange the second and third phases.

The first phase envisages the construction of around 500 houses in each constituency. He emphasized that the protection of government land must be a priority in determining the sites for the proposed towers. Officials should continually assess land availability, suitability and other requirements.

The Minister said that the Indiramma Towers initiative was taken up in line with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s vision to ensure that poor families do not have to move far from their existing locations to get housing.

Allot 2 BHK by October end

Mr. Ponguleti also directed officials to complete the selection of beneficiaries for two-bedroom houses in Hyderabad, Rangareddy and Medchal-Malkajgiri districts by the end of October.

He mandated Housing Corporation to use specially developed software and modern technology to conduct online lottery for selection of beneficiaries. The procedure should be the same in all three districts. Arrangements should also be made for live streaming of the draw so that the selection process can be watched publicly.

The meeting was attended by Revenue Minister DS Lokesh Kumar, Housing Minister Vice President Gowtham and other senior officials.
