Dubai-bound Emirates flight delayed at Delhi airport after bird strike | Watch the video | Today’s news
An Emirates flight (EK 517) from Delhi to Dubai, scheduled to depart at 4:25 pm, was delayed on Friday following a bird strike that affected the flight schedule, ANI reported.
According to the video, airport ground staff can be seen inspecting the plane’s nose cone.
A bird strike refers to an incident in which a bird collides with an aircraft during takeoff, landing, or while in the air. According to HT, such collisions can include birds striking an aircraft’s windshield or being dragged into its engines, potentially affecting engine performance and in some cases forcing the aircraft to make an emergency landing.
The likelihood of such incidents may increase when birds fly in flocks, as more birds may come into contact with the aircraft at the same time.
