Jemimah Rodrigues has become Switzerland’s tourism ambassador in India amid her recovery from injury

Indian batsman Jemimah Rodrigues has taken on a new role off the field, becoming Swiss Tourism’s friendship ambassador for India as she continues to recover from a hamstring injury. The appointment was announced in Bengaluru on October 15 in the presence of Switzerland Tourism CEO Martin Nydegger. Through the association, Rodrigues will present the attractions of European countries in all four seasons.

Known for her infectious energy and vivacious personality, Rodrigues will explore Switzerland’s popular tourist destinations as well as lesser-known spots, introducing Indian audiences to its cultural experiences, outdoor adventures and seasonal attractions. The campaign aims to encourage Indian travelers to explore the country beyond its well-known tourist spots.

“Representing India has always been something very special for me and wherever I travel I carry a piece of home with me. I look forward to meeting people, trying new things, exploring different places and sharing these moments with everyone back home,” said Rodrigues.

JEMIMAH’S MANNER OF INJURY

Rodrigues has been sidelined since suffering a severe right hamstring tear while playing for Southern Brave in The Hundred on August 3. The injury forced her to withdraw from the remainder of the competitionwho scored 143 runs in six innings at a strike of 131.19, including back-to-back Player of the Match performances.

The failure proved costly for India, with Rodrigues subsequently missing the Women’s Asia Cup and the Asian Games. He will also miss India’s T20I and ODI series against Zimbabwe, extending his spell on the sidelines.

Her absence has deprived India of an important middle-order option, given her ability to adapt to different match situations and step up when needed. Rodrigues is currently undergoing rehabilitation and has been sharing videos on Instagram of his intense gym sessions and batting in the nets as he works towards a return to action.

Rodrigues will be hoping to regain full fitness in time for India’s tour of South Africa later this year. In her absence, Niki Prasad, Jintimani Kalita, Anushka Sharma and Gunalan Kamalini will look to make the most of their opportunities as India prepare for the T20I series against Zimbabwe.
