Thirumavalavan urges VCK cadres to ‘let go and move on’
Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi founder and Chidambaram MP Thol. Thirumavalavan appealed to VCK supporters to “let go and move on” after DMK leaders criticized the party for joining the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam-led government cabinet recently.
In a video message, Mr Thirumavalavan said the VCK was successful in its mission to defeat the National Democratic Alliance as part of the DMK alliance, but added that the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam had emerged as the single largest party.
“We assessed that TVK would divide the votes of the Christian community and the Islamic community and that would affect the DMK alliance. It would not be able to form a government on its own but would emerge as the single largest party. That is why I decided to contest the assembly elections. I also assessed that…alliances would change based on TVK’s vote share…after the elections. Since it was not easy, to form a majority, it did not show a simple majority. DMK’s alliance partners, namely the Congress party, decided to support the TVK immediately,” he said.
Mr. Thirumavalavan added that he extended unconditional support to TVK after the Left parties announced their decision to support TVK.
“When I convened a high-level committee, the party seniors said that if we supported the TVK, we should join the cabinet. The next day, May 9, we decided to do what the left parties did. I was slandered that I was arguing with the TVK… that I wanted to become a deputy minister or wait to become the chief minister. We decided that we must join the cabinet only after taking our decision. v cabinet and especially that I will become a minister,” he said.
Mr. Thirumavalavan said that DMK President MK Stalin and former Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin will recognize the contribution of VCK to the DMK alliance in the last 10 years.
“However, DMK leaders like A. Raja are criticizing us. It hurts us…but we also understand their point of view. The DMK cadre will not be able to accept the VCK’s tie-up with the TVK, which has been harshly criticizing the DMK. The DMK president has asked them not to use harsh words. It is not necessary at this time for the VCK to focus on strengthening our cadre and harshly criticize our party.” from that, those who don’t like us will criticize us,” he said, adding, “We will be criticized whether we are with the DMK or in another alliance.”
Mr. Thirumavalavan said that the vote share of all parties has gone down and shifted to TVK and that VCK is being unfairly targeted. “Our vote bank has been transferred to our alliance partners.
