J&K Waqf Board Chairman Syed Darakhshan Andrabi on Friday (Oct 9, 2026) condemned the attack on Kashmiri youth allegedly by Congress workers on Thursday (Oct 8, 2026) for praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi and against street protests led by Rahul Gandhi.

Ms Andrabi called the incident “deeply disturbing” and called for an “impartial investigation” into the incident. Fahim Nazir of Kashmir raised pro-Prime Minister slogans on Thursday (October 8, 2026).

“Fahim Nazir is a son of Kashmir and a son of India. Narendra Modi is the prime minister of the entire nation. Being his fan or expressing admiration for him is definitely not a crime,” Ms Andrabi said.

She said such an act of brutality was “absolutely unacceptable in a democracy”. “No political affiliation gives anyone the right to take the law into their own hands. Today it is Fahim Nazir, tomorrow it could be someone else,” she said.

Meanwhile, a group of youth staged a street protest in Srinagar and raised slogans against Rahul. These youths gathered at Gupkar Road in the city and staged a protest against the beating of Kashmiri youth in New Delhi the day before.
