BJP says Kerala HC order on FIR against Pinarayi Vijayan thwarts Congress’ attempts to ‘protect’ CPI(M) leader from prosecution
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national executive PK Krishnadas said on Friday that the Kerala High Court has blown the whistle on the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)) and Congress “nexus” in Kerala by ordering the registration of an FIR under the provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act against its former chief minister, daughter and opposition leader Pinarayi Vija, son-in-law and former PA minister Mohamed Riyas in the CMRL-Exalogic payment case.
Mr Krishnadas told reporters in Thiruvananthapuram that the Supreme Court had “thwarted” the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) government’s bid to soften the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) “damning report” against Mr Vijayan and his family sent to the state police chief to register an anti-corruption case.
“The Congress sought to save Mr. Vijayan from prosecution by ordering a neck-and-neck preliminary investigation. The High Court condemned the move and condemned the SPC for not registering an FIR against Mr. Vijayan and his family. The court also paid lip service to the CPI(M)’s attempts to save Mr. Vijayan from prosecution by teaming up with the New Delay Commission to get rid of Elyanefhi’s agitation in the Congress. Chief Minister VD Satheesan should apologize to people for the faux pas,” he said.
Mr. Krishnadas said the UDF’s handling of the ED’s demand for criminal proceedings against Mr. Vijayan once again exposed the CPI(M)’s “symbiotic relationship” with the Congress in Kerala.
