Saurav Das informs Delhi Police about CJP’s October 10 protest against Gynaesh Kumar — Check 3 Key Demands | Today’s news
Cockroach Janta Party co-convener Saurav Das said he would “intimate” the Delhi Police about the party’s planned Wednesday protest on October 10 at Jantar Mantar.
The CJP has announced a fresh agitation at Jantar Mantar from October 10 to seek the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, who is under fire over the SIR exercise and the functioning of the election body.
In a post late on Tuesday evening, Das said, “Tomorrow at 10 am I will reach the Parliament Street Police Station to inform the Delhi Police about our protest on October 10, 2026.
“The Constitution of India allows us the right to peaceful assembly and the right to protest peacefully,” he added.

‘Right to protest’: What does the Constitution of India say?
This right to protest is not only guaranteed in the Constitution of India in Article 19(1)(a) and (b) but is also given in the form of a fundamental right under Article 19(1)(a) and (b) and it is freedom of expression and assembly.
However, these rights are subject to “reasonable restrictions” in the interests of “the sovereignty and integrity of India, national security, friendly relations with foreign states, public order, decency or morals or in relation to contempt of court, defamation or incitement to offence”.

What are the 3 key requirements of the CJP?
Abhijit Dipko-led CJP issued three key ‘non-negotiable’ demands for its new agitation.
1. Gyanesh Kumar must resign and criminal proceedings must be initiated against him.
2. Freeze the SIR, stop the upcoming elections, restore the January 2025 electoral roll and order an independent investigation.
3. Repeal the European Citizens’ Initiative Appointments Act of 2023 and introduce an independent and credible selection process.
“The government can use any intimidation tactic, but we will not back down,” the party said.
“No negotiation. That’s the key word,” Das emphasized in a separate tweet.
“The current government has committed hundreds of illegalities with the help of Gyanesh Kumar. Now the young generation will make sure that SHE alone will undo them all and create a system that people can trust.”,he wrote. “We the people can handle it!”

Notice for CJP activists to participate in October 10 protest: Dipke
Dipke on Tuesday alleged that the police in Maharashtra’s Chandrapur had been sending notices to CJP activists pressurizing them not to participate in the October 10 protest in Delhi.
“I have said several times that Maharashtra Police is the best police force in the country and Delhi Police should learn from them. But it is heartbreaking that the Chandrapur police served a notice to the CJP personnel not to participate in the protest at Jantar Mantar. They also asked the CJP personnel about the source of funds to travel to Jantar Mantar,” Dipke said at a press conference.
“The police said (in the notice) that the agitation would be ‘violent’. How did the police know so early that it would be violent? Did they plan ahead?” he asked.
“Why is the Maharashtra police behaving like the Delhi police? What does one have to do when one goes to Delhi from Chandrapur?” he said.
Describing the police action as a form of “dictatorship”, he said Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis should not “misuse” the police for his political ambitions.
