“You have Dharmendra Pradhan; why are you now after the resignation of CEC Gyanesh Kumar?” Ramdas Athawale asks CJP | Today’s news

Referring to Dharmendra Pradhan, Rajya Sabha MP Ramdas Athawale criticized the demands for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment was speaking during a visit to Anantnag district in south Kashmir on 11 October. His remarks linked the NEET paper leak protests to the election controversy.

Athawale addressed members of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) who were protesting against the leak of NEET papers. He said that during this controversy they demanded Pradhan’s resignation.

Athawale claimed that Pradhan’s resignation was accepted and all their demands were met. He then asked why the satirical group was now joining the protests regarding CEC Gyanesh Kumar.

“You asked for Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation, Modi resigned it and fulfilled your other demands. Why do you need to take up the Gyanesh Kumar matter now,” he said.

A rough English translation means, “You have demanded the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan. His resignation has been accepted and all your demands have been met. What is the need for you to get involved in this matter regarding Gyanesh Kumar now?”

“Gyanesh Kumar may not resign because of ‘vote chori’ allegations,” he added.

Athawale criticized groups that sought the resignation of officials whenever an issue arose. His comments indicated that he considers the earlier NEET requirements settled.

Athawale also rejected Rahul Gandhi’s charge of ‘vote chori’. He questioned whether the ruling party should make similar claims about Gandhi’s electoral victory.

He claimed that the Congress victory may face allegations of fake votes. According to him, political parties should not judge electoral bodies differently according to the results.

According to the deputy, the Electoral Commission works independently and transparently. He argued that protests against routine changes to electoral rolls were contrary to democratic norms.

He accepted peaceful protest as a democratic right. But he also warned against violence. He said the authorities would maintain law and order.

Meeting with the CJI

Rahul Gandhi has called for an opposition march to the Supreme Court on Monday, October 12. INDIA bloc parties, youth groups, civil society organizations and citizens are expected to participate.

The opposition leaders planned to meet Chief Justice Surya Kant between 4:00 pm and 5:00 pm. Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge were among the planned leaders, according to ANI.

However, CJI Surya Kant revealed that he will not be able to meet the opposition leaders. At the same time, he refused to reveal the real reason.

“I would ask you to ask them to release the contents of that letter. I would like to keep that letter confidential,” he told reporters.
