First 33/11 kV covered substation at Karimnagar under TGNPDCL jurisdiction technically charged

Indoor substations would go a long way in solving the land shortage in urban areas while ensuring quality and reliable power supply to consumers, said Chairman and Managing Director of Northern Power Distribution Company of Telangana Ltd (TGNPDCL) K. Varun Reddy.

He was speaking after technical charging of the first 33/11 kV indoor substation in Karimnagar under the jurisdiction of TGNPDCL at Telangana Chowk here on Tuesday.

The substation was constructed at a cost of ₹ 6.92 crore in an area of ​​just 484 square yards and is equipped with two 8 MVA power transformers using ester oil technology.

The facility is also equipped with SCADA systems, Intelligent Electronic Device (IED) relays and advanced Remote Terminal Unit (RTU) systems integrated with the TGNPDCL control center for remote monitoring of the substation.

The control panels installed at the substation are equipped with “SCADA devices, IED relays and advanced RTU systems which have been integrated with the control center at the TGNPDCL Corporate Office,” he said.

Mr. Reddy said TGNPDCL is developing a modern power grid through technologically advanced indoor substations in line with the growing demand for power.

Another indoor substation would be set up at Karimnagar Collectorate, he added.
