Elon Musk Net Worth: How SpaceX and Tesla Helped Musk Become a Billionaire Again After Market Rise | Today’s news

Elon Musk has crossed the $1 trillion mark again, just months after becoming the world’s first billionaire and then watching his wealth plummet. This time, SpaceX’s stock surge did much of the work, with Tesla also adding to the recovery.

Elon Musk becomes a trillionaire again

Musk’s net worth climbed to roughly $1.04 trillion as of Monday, 10/5, according to Forbes Real Time Billionaires data cited by Fortune. His fortune increased by roughly $65 billion in a single day as SpaceX shares jumped nearly 8 percent.

The move shows how quickly Musk’s estimated wealth can change. Much of his wealth is tied up in companies he owns or controls, meaning a strong trading session can add tens of billions of dollars to his paper wealth without getting any cash.

Why has Musk’s net worth soared?

SpaceX was the main driver this time. The company’s shares rose after Morgan Stanley analysts called the stock relatively cheap at recent prices and pointed to potential growth from artificial intelligence products, Starship and new cloud computing contracts, Fortune reported.

The rally came after a difficult period for SpaceX investors. Musk first crossed the trillion-dollar mark in June after the company went public, but its stock later fell, pulling his net worth below the milestone.

Fortune reported that Musk’s fortune dropped from approximately $1.32 trillion to $957 billion between 6/16 and 6/24. It then hit a low of around $683.6 billion in early August before recovering.

Tesla also contributed to the latest recovery. Its shares beat expectations after third-quarter deliveries, Investopedia said. Tesla remains an important part of Musk’s wealth, although SpaceX has become a much larger contributor since going public.

Musk’s wealth may move with the market

The latest milestone is a reminder that a trillion dollars in net worth doesn’t mean Musk has $1 trillion in cash. Most of his assets are tied up in stocks, the value of which fluctuates with the market.

CNBC reported that SpaceX shares have risen significantly since the company went public, although the stock remains vulnerable to sharp swings. This matters because Musk holds a significant stake, so even relatively small percentage moves can translate into huge changes in his estimated wealth.

Forbes continues to rank Musk as the richest person in the world. So his return to billionaire status is less about receiving new money and more about the market value assigned to his businesses.
