Earthquake Today: Tremors felt in Delhi-NCR as 4.9 magnitude earthquake hits Uttarakhand | Today’s news

An earthquake measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale struck Chamoli in Uttarakhand on Tuesday evening and tremors were felt in the capital and adjoining areas. Residents of Delhi took to social media to share that they were left shaken.

According to the National Seismological Center, the earthquake struck around 10:15 p.m. Tremors were also felt in Delhi-NCR, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana.

The NCS said a magnitude 4.9 earthquake hit Chamoli in Uttarakhand at 10:22 PM IST.

Further details of any damage or casualties are awaited.

Meanwhile, earlier in the day, a magnitude 4.5 earthquake struck Assam’s Nagaon district in the early hours of Tuesday, according to the National Center for Seismology (NCS).

The earthquake struck at 4:23:47 IST at a depth of 33 kilometers, NCS said in a post on X.

The epicenter of the earthquake was located at 26.428 N latitude and 93.060 E longitude, according to the NCS.
