Cyberabad Civic Association has taken action against restaurants in Madeenaguda, Moosapet for food safety violations

Food safety officials of the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) conducted inspections at two food establishments in Hyderabad’s Madeenaguda and Moosapet areas on Tuesday and found many food hygiene and safety violations.
During an inspection at the Gismat Jail Mandi restaurant in Madeenaguda, the food safety team found raw and semi-processed non-vegetarian food stored without labels, while chicken, mutton and fish were stored improperly. Improperly stored food was discarded immediately during inspection.
The facility was operating without a valid license from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). The restaurant’s dishwashing area was found to be unsanitary with standing water and accumulation of food waste, uncleaned raw material storage containers. Food handlers were working without apron and gloves and iron knives and damaged cutting boards were being used in the kitchen, the civic body said.
After the inspection, CMC’s food safety team issued a show-cause notice to the facility and ordered management to correct the violation immediately.
In another inspection conducted at the Udupi Upahar restaurant in Moosapet, officials found a slippery kitchen floor and clogged drains full of food waste. Cooked vegetable biryani, cooked rice, batter, paneer, manchurian and batter were found improperly stored in the freezers.

The inspection team also observed untidy storage containers, unsanitary washing areas and improper defrosting procedures for frozen foods. A cockroach and fly infestation was found in the kitchen area, while food handlers were working without hair nets and masks. It was also found that the establishment operates with an expired food license.
The premises were closed for operating without a valid license and expired vegetable biryani and manchurian were immediately discarded.
