Ali Khan’s wide ball goes for a six (Screengrabs) A bizarre moment during the first Canadian T10 Cricket League semi-final between Toronto Sixers and Mississauga Masters left players, commentators and fans stunned.A delivery from American pacer Ali Khan flew over the batsman and wicketkeeper before landing in the stands, but Toronto only got five runs instead of six.Toronto posted 130/4 in 10 overs with Kieron Pollard smashing 40 off 16 balls. During the ninth over, Khan bowled a bouncer that beat Pollard and the keeper before clearing the boundary without touching the bat.The commentators initially thought it would be a wide and a six. However, the umpire awarded Toronto five runs. Under MCC laws, a six can only be awarded when the ball has been hit by the bat.Watch:Under Rule 19.7, if the ball crosses the boundary without being struck by the bat, it is considered a boundary four. As the delivery was also wide, an additional width penalty of one run is added, making a total of five runs.

Toronto is in the finals

Despite the unusual incident, the Toronto Sixers defeated the Mississauga Masters by nine runs to secure a spot in the finals. Mississauga started a strong chase led by Alex Lees who smashed 39 off just 11 balls but they could not complete the chase.In the other semi-final, the Vancouver Anchors defeated the Brampton Blitz by six wickets. They will now face the Toronto Sixers in the finals of the tournament.
