Students of the protesters of teachers on Saturday (May 17, 2025) came out to support their damaged teachers after facing a police baton. The young minds participated in sit-in outside Bikash Bhawan because their teachers led for them in the open air.
The students joined their teachers around 16:30 by many teachers who emotionally saw their students hit the streets. The students sat with the labels when the teachers led “Udayan Pathshala”. They taught moral stories 30 to 40 students studying in classes of 4 to 9 who were in place. One of the student labels is: “Students call you to get our Sirs and Madams justice.”
Meanwhile, the mayor of Trinamool Congress of Firhad Hakim criticized the teacher’s movement and said that people who want to show the face on television are the only ones sitting on the roads and protesting. “The Supreme Court judgment can only be changed to the Supreme Court; you cannot change it to the protesters before Bikash Bhawan. Blocking roads and not allowing people inside the offices is harassment. This is a drama, not protest,” Hakim said.
On the other hand, the leader of BJP Dilip Ghosh criticized the government for using police forces for teachers. “Why do they deserve to be kicking and intervene? People should touch the feet of teachers and show respect, but they are beaten,” Ghosh said.
In the related development of employers from 2022, West Bengal Tet (a teacher’s competence) also organized a protest on College Street in Calcutta. They called it “the main minister inspired the fair without work”.
Teachers protest outside Bikash Bhawan, Directorate of the Ministry of Education since May 7 and 15. This happened after the protesters refused to leave Bikash Bhawan employees to leave the premises until their requirements were heard.
At least 30 teachers left the use of the police force. This brought serious criticism of opposition parties. Police of West Bengal justified their use of strength as “minimal and limited”.
Teachers protested protesters for more than a month in response to the Supreme Court’s decision on April 3, which confirmed the annulment of approximately 26,000 appointments made during the recruitment process of the 2016 WBSSC with a citation of irregularities.
