The Minister of Public Work PA Mohammad Riyas said on Friday that in December this year the expansion of the National Highway (NH) -66 section from Kasaragod to Thiruvananthapuram to a six -abdominal facility.
Mr. Riyas chaired the inauguration, which took place in Manaveeyam Vaedhi, more than 50 roads built by public work (PWD) in various districts and 12 intelligent roads in Thiruvananthapuram City developed as part of the Smart City project.
Mr. Riyas said that 166 km of the proposed motorway was completed 1,166 km. 793 km of this project is financed through the Council of the Investment Fund for Keral Infrastructure (KIIFB). Work on 315 km is going, he said.
BM, BC Technology
Three reaches of almost 600 km of the Coast Highway project were completed, Riyas said. The roads harmonized on Friday, including 12 intelligent urban roads, were built using bituminous macadam and bituminous concrete (BM and BC) technology. The government of the left democratic front (LDF) was able to develop 15,000 km of PWD roads using this technology in three and a half years, he said. By 2026, 65% of the roads in Kerala will be developed using BM and BC technology, according to Mr. Riyas.
‘Connect people’
Minister of General Education V. Sivankutty formally launched completed PWD roads and intelligent roads. These roads are used to connect people and accelerate development, said Mr. Sivankutty. Intelligent roads, developed by the Keral Road Fund, have underground channels for tools, tiled sidewalks, converted sewer lines and cycle paths. They also have special chambers that allow repairs without digging roads.
Ministers of GR Anil and Ak Sasendran, Mayor of Arya Rajendran and Mlas Antony Raja, VK Prasanth and V. Joy were also present.
