Veteran actor and political activist Prakash Raj has demanded that the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls be scrapped and the electoral roll be restored across the country to its previous form by undoing 13 lakh cuts.

In view of the serious flaws in the SIR process that were exposed recently, Mr. Prakash Raj also demanded that the constitution of the Election Commission as amended by the Chief Election Commissioner and Other Election Commissioners Act, 2023 should also be repealed and the judicial immunity granted to the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) should be revoked.

Addressing a press conference in Hyderabad on Saturday (October 3, 2026), he spoke about an investigation he conducted in 100 booths in 23 districts of Karnataka, which revealed a large number of voters who were arbitrarily deleted from the rolls.

“Should the people decide who will be in power or will you decide who will be able to vote?” he asked the Narendra Modi-Amit Shah duo, whom he repeatedly referred to as Ranga-Billa.

Poor people, Adivasis and a woman were on the receiving end of the ongoing SIR, Mr. Prakash Raj pointed out, wondering if the Center was trying to introduce Manusmriti.

The thespian, who came into public life after the assassination of his close associate and journalist Gauri Lankesh, demanded that the Supreme Court immediately get all the files from the Election Commission since 2023 and examine each one.
