As of June 2026, under the Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Act, 2026 and the anti-littering drive, the Railway Protection Force (RPF), Bengaluru Division, has registered 6,671 cases and collected fines of ₹33.50 million for littering, interior violations and parking bans.
According to South Western Railway, the RPF registered 227 cases of littering and collected fines of ₹1,24,200. It also registered 3,825 cases of trespass and collected ₹19.16 crore in fines.
Meanwhile, 2,619 cases of parking ban violations were registered, with fines of ₹13.09 million collected.
The figures were announced as the Bengaluru Division of South Western Railway and State Bank of India (SBI) on Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to facilitate digital collection of fines through Point of Sale (PoS) terminals.
Under the new facility, violators can pay fines through debit cards, credit cards and UPI, an alternative to cash payments. The aim of the system is to improve transparency and accountability while making penalty payments more convenient for passengers and the public.
The device went into effect on Thursday. Railway officials said the initiative aims to reduce cash transactions and strengthen technology-based law enforcement and public service delivery.
