Asian Games 2026 Live Oct 2: Hockey, boxing, wrestling golds in focus
October 2 promises to be another eventful day for India at the 2026 Asian Games as its athletes compete for medals in several disciplines.
The action begins in the morning, with India’s golfers and archers taking center stage before the matches begin. Dipanshi, Priya Malik, Sujeet and Rajat Ruhal will all enter the fray in their respective wrestling categories with hopes of advancing deep into the competition.
Archery could provide India with more medal opportunities throughout the day, with the women’s team and mixed team events featuring in the medal contests. Cycling will also feature several events, including the men’s Madison final, the closing stages of the women’s omni and the men’s keirin.
We also have a lot to look forward to in the boxing ring. India has three fighters competing for the gold medal, with Lovlina Borgohain, Parveen and Ankush all looking to complete their campaigns with the top prize.
The wrestling mat could then become one of the main sources of medals for India in the afternoon. The finals of the men’s 65kg and 125kg freestyle categories are among the key events, with Indian wrestlers also featuring in several bronze medal fights.
And then comes the big team event of the day.
At 3.30 pm, the Indian women’s hockey team will take on China in the final, with the gold medal at stake. It will be one of the most anticipated events of a packed day for the Indian contingent.
From the opening events in the morning to the medal contests in the afternoon, India has many athletes lined up in wrestling, boxing, archery, cycling and hockey on October 2 to add to the country’s medal tally.
