CISF personnel killed in alleged fratricidal incident and laid to rest

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) on Thursday (October 1, 2026) paid tribute to the four workers who were killed in an alleged fratricide at the Sewa-III Hydro Electric Project in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district on Tuesday (September 29, 2026).

A head constable from the 2009 batch allegedly had an argument with his colleagues and allegedly opened fire with an AK-47, injuring four people. They later succumbed to their injuries.

The last rites of Assistant Commandant Ankit Kumar Pandey, Sub-Inspector Laxman Singh, Constable Sanjeev Kumar and Constable Md Rafiq were performed at their native places with full honors as per official protocol, CISF said in a statement.

The employees were posted at Sewa-III Hydro Electric Project at Mashka in Basohli area of ​​Kathua when the incident occurred.

Deputy Commandant Ankit Kumar Pandey, who joined the CISF on October 3, 2015, was cremated at his native village Mathiya Daulatpur in Ambedkarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh. Sub-inspector Laxman Singh, who joined the force in August 2013 and served for over 13 years, was given full honors during his last rites at Loona village in Solan district of Himachal Pradesh. Constable Sanjeev Kumar, a CISF member since October 2013, was cremated at his native village Rameen in Jammu district. Constable Md Rafiq, who served in the army for over 16 years after joining in March 2010, was laid to rest at Kandali village in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir.

The ceremony included a guard of honor and a ceremonial salute in the presence of family members, relatives and colleagues.

Expressing its sincere condolences, the CISF said it stands firmly with the families of the deceased personnel in their time of grief. “The Force has an honorable duty to stand by the bereaved families, share their grief as one family and provide them with all possible support and assistance in accordance with the rules in the coming days,” the statement said.
