FSSAI action at Seven Seas Hotel: Spoiled food, blackened oil, cockroaches found; 74 kg of food destroyed on site | Today’s news
India’s food safety regulator FSSAI has suspended the license of M/s Seven Seas Hospitality Pvt. Ltd after conducting an inspection on the hotel premises and finding serious violations of food safety protocols.
According to FSSAI’s social media post, the company achieved a “compliance score of only 30 percent”.

Poor hygienic conditions include stagnant water, unpleasant odors and insufficient maintenance in areas where food is prepared.
Food material like tomatoes, papaya, jaggery and cashew nuts were found with mold growth. Rotten capsicums were also found as well as blackened spoiled cooking oil.
FSSAI found serious deficiencies in food storage which include insufficient separation of meat and vegetarian food, storage of meat was found to be improper. Condensate was also observed to drip onto food in refrigeration units.
FSSAI also noted major deficiencies in infrastructure and pest control, including refrigeration leaks, excessive ice build-up, peeling plaster, inadequate cold storage, poor ventilation and lighting, and the presence of cockroaches and houseflies.
The FSSAI also said it has noticed non-compliance in the areas of hygiene, record maintenance and water testing. Approximately 74 kg/l of non-conforming food was destroyed on site.
Based on these observations FSSAI decided to suspend the license of M/s Seven Seas Hospitality Pvt. Ltd. with immediate effect. It said the FBO was ordered to cease all food operations during the suspension period.
NDTV, citing sources, said FSSAI had conducted an inspection at the Seven Seas Hotel in Rohini, Delhi.
The move comes at a time of increased scrutiny by food authorities across India, with tightening standards and regular inspections uncovering deficiencies in several well-known restaurants and hotels across the country.
Maharshtra FDA seizes more than 50 tonnes of food
Between September 23 and 27, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in Maharashtra seized more than 50 tonnes of food products with a cumulative value of nearly ₹1.20 million, news agency ANI reported on Tuesday.
According to the FDA, a total of 50,601.78 kg of food supplies worth ₹1,19,90,792, was seized during checks in various districts. The products seized included sweets, milk and milk products, edible oil, rice, dry fruits, namkeen, farsan, tea, spices, sauces, noodles, wafers and other food items.
Across the state, licenses or registrations of about 30 food establishments have been suspended by the FDA, including 13 in Mumbai, six in Konkan division, eight in Pune division and three in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar division.
