3-Day Bank Strike: Will Your September Salary Be Delayed? Here’s everything you need to know | Today’s news

The September 28-30 bank strike is likely to delay some salaries for September. However, it depends on many factors. The payment terms of your employer and participating banks will be important.

Digital banking companies with sufficient funds can still pay wages on time. However, heavy transactional traffic can cause problems. Employers face a greater risk of delay depending on branch visits or check clearing.

The Week reported that most public sector banks, including SBI, will face disruption. Some older private banks, including Federal Bank and South Indian Bank, could also be affected. HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank and Kotak Mahindra Bank are expected to remain open.

Central government employees have measures in place to prevent salary delays. The Times of India reported that the September payments had been authorized earlier on September 25. The decision concerned salaries, wages and pensions, including employees in defence, posts and telecommunications.

These payments are considered advances against the final amounts for September. Any necessary salary or wage adjustments will be made in October, the report said. The arrangement also applied to advance September salary payments for central government industrial employees.

Railway employees were covered by instructions circulated through the Railway Committee. StaffNews has published a notice from the council directing railway units to respond immediately to the payment order.

It referred to a memorandum dated September 23 authorizing the payment of wages on September 25. The announcement was approved by the Financial Directorate of the Ministry of Railways.

According to The Week, the central government’s early payment scheme excludes state government and employees. Private employees should therefore not assume that the September 25 arrangement will cover their salaries.

Banking services will not come to a complete halt during the proposed strike. UPI, mobile banking, internet banking and ATMs are expected to remain available. However, cash transactions at branches, check clearing and loan or deposit applications could suffer.

The Times of India reported another step to reduce the inconvenience ahead of the strike. Public sector banks and regional rural banks opened on Sunday, September 27. Customers were advised to complete important transactions before the strike whenever possible.

The strike also coincides with the banks’ mid-term closing on September 30. This adds pressure during an important period for banking work.

3-day bank strike

The United Forum of Banking Unions has called a strike over several demands. These include a five-day banking week and improved pension benefits.

The government and bank management called on the unions to postpone the protest. For salaried employees, uncertainty remains as to whether their employer needs services that are disrupted by employees.
