Death of Kannur Dental College student: Crime Branch names principal as well as teacher as accused

The Crime Branch has also named the principal and teacher of Kannur Dental College in Anjarakandy, Kerala as an accused in connection with the death of dental student Nitin Raj.

Director Dr. Vinod Moni and faculty member Dr. Latha Sasidharan were included in the list of accused.

Both approached the Thalassery District and Sessions Court seeking anticipatory bail after they were included among the accused.

Dr. MK Ram is the first accused in the case, while another faculty member, Sangeeta Nambiar, is the second accused.

Nithin Raj, a native of Thiruvananthapuram, died on April 10 after jumping from a college building. His relatives alleged that he was subjected to caste-based abuse by teachers.

First of all, they brought charges against Dr. To Ram and Sangeeta Nambiar. Both were suspended after protests.

The detective took over the investigation from the Special Investigation Team on April 30.

Dr. Ram, who was on the run, was arrested in Kodagu, Karnataka on July 20. However, the Thalassery District and Sessions Court later on September 9 granted him bail with conditions including a direction not to enter Kannur Dental College or influence students.
