Bronze for Anant Jeet Naruka, Parinaaz Dhaliwal in Asian Games 2026 mixed skeet

(PTI Photo/Atul Yadav) Anant Jeet Singh Naruka and Parinaaz Dhaliwal added another medal to India’s shooting tally at the 2026 Asian Games by winning bronze in mixed skeet at the Aichi-Nagoya Games on Thursday.The Indian pair finished third in the final with 44 hits behind China, who won gold with 52, and Korea Republic, who took silver with 51.India were tied for 44th with Korea in the medal round after six series. However, with both teams tied, the qualifying order came up. Korea entered the final from a higher qualification position and therefore retained their place in the gold medal competition, while India were eliminated and secured the bronze. India’s run in the final was 7, 14, 21, 29, 36 and 44 in six runs.China eventually finished on 52 after seven runs, while Korea finished on 51. India finished with six runs for 44, while Qatar were out early to finish fourth on 18.Naruka and Parinaaz entered the medal round after finishing fourth in qualifying with 138 points out of 150 targets. Qatar topped the qualifying rankings with 145, followed by South Korea with 143 and China with 140. The Indian pair played a series of 44, 47 and 47 to finish in the top four.Asian Games full coverage|schedule|medal listThe bronze also means that both shooters leave the Asian Games with two medals.Naruka had earlier helped India win bronze in the men’s skeet team event along with veteran Mairaj Ahmad Khan and Bhavtegh Singh Gill. Naruka also finished fourth in the individual competition.Parinaaz, meanwhile, was part of the Indian women’s skeet team that won bronze along with Raiza Dhillon and Maheshwari Chauhan on Wednesday. Their total score of 331 secured India’s first ever Asian Games medal in the women’s team skeet event. China won gold, Kazakhstan silver.The mixed skeet medal took Indian skeet to three medals in Aichi-Nagoya after the two team bronzes won on Wednesday.India followed up its two-medal haul from the 2022 Asian Games, where Anant Jeet Singh Naruka won silver in the individual event and was part of the men’s team that won bronze.The bronze in women’s skeet at Aichi-Nagoya is also a landmark result and marks India’s first Asian Games medal in women’s skeet. With three medals in the men’s, women’s and mixed team events, it is India’s best ever performance in skeet at the Asian Games.
