A passenger train crashed into a school bus in Belgium on Tuesday, leaving several “victims” behind, the country’s interior minister said.

“It was with great dismay that I learned about the tragic accident in Buggenhout, where a train hit a school bus. My thoughts go out to the victims and their loved ones. I wish the injured a lot of strength,” Belgian Interior Minister Bernard Quintin wrote on X.

The minibus was said to be traveling to Bruges and had seven child passengers, a member of staff and a driver.

According to RT India, rail operator Infrabel said the barriers were down and warning lights were active when the collision occurred. Rail services between Dendermonde and Londerzeel have been suspended, GB News reported.

Photos of the incident have surfaced on social media, showing the overturned school bus. Sky News shared footage on X showing emergency services at the scene after a train collided with a school bus in Buggenhout, Belgium.
