Satnam-Salman won bronze in the men’s double sculls as India added another medal from the Asian Games

Satnam-Salman won the rowing bronze Satnam Singh and Salman Khan secured a bronze medal for India at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games after finishing third in the men’s double sculls final on Thursday.The Indian pair clocked 6:13.25, China’s Yi Xudi and Nie Yide took gold and Uzbekistan’s Mekhrojbek Mamatkulov and Pavel Sorin took silver.Satnam and Salman remained second in the 500m, 1,000m and 1,500m events and were only half a second behind the Chinese pair at one stage. However, they slipped in the last section and settled for bronze.The Indians finished 3.48 seconds behind the gold and 2.76 seconds behind the silver.In the men’s singles skiff final, Balraj Panwar missed out on a medal after finishing fourth.Balraj held the second position in the 500m, 1000m and 1500m and went into the final 500m with a five-second lead over Japan’s Tatsuya Sakurama. However, Sakurama and Uzbekistan’s Shakhboz Kholmurzaev overtook him in the final stages.Balraj clocked 6:54.80 to finish eight seconds behind Sakurama and 15 seconds behind gold medalist Zhiwei Teng of China.India’s wushu player Naorem Roshibina Devi also settled for silver after losing 0-2 to China’s Zhang Xiaoyu in the women’s 60kg sando final. Zhang won both rounds 5-0 to win the gold medal. Roshibina has now won silver medals at two consecutive Asian Games, having also lost the 2022 Hangzhou Games final to China’s Xiaowei Wu.Roshibina’s silver took India’s overall medal tally at the ongoing Games to 14, comprising one gold, six silver and seven bronze.
