Dy. CM asks Singareni to bag new mines in other states
HYDERABAD
Deputy Chief Minister M. Bhatti Vikramarka told the management of Singareni Collieries Company Ltd to get allocation of new coal blocks in other states and produce quality coal to sustain itself in the competitive coal market.
Addressing a meeting with ministers and legislators of the coal belt held here on Monday, he said the state government is determined to extend all cooperation to SCCL for its development and is determined to fulfill all the promises made in the coal belt before the assembly elections.
He stressed the need to obtain allocation of new coal blocks in other states where quality coal could be mined at lower production costs compared to the declining quality and quantity of coal in the Singaereni mines. The coal in the new mines of other states would be of good quality and consequently in good demand in the coal market.
The Deputy Chief Minister criticized the previous BRS government for its failure to acquire new coal mines in other states despite being in power for 10 years. Elected representatives of the coal belt drew attention to the problems in the areas at the Deputy Minister’s meeting.
Mr. Vikramarka told the Singareni authorities to take into consideration the suggestions of the coal belt legislators and said he would review the progress of the measures based on their suggestions every fortnight.
