Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is exhorting people to go for eco-friendly constructions instead of expanding ‘concrete jungles’ as there is an urgent need to shift focus from ‘grey growth’ to ‘green growth’.

Attending the inauguration of Earth Center – Vista Spaces, a LEED Platinum certified premium commercial office and workspace located in Whitefield, Bengaluru along with his Karnataka counterpart DK Shivakumar on Sunday, Mr. Naidu said that buildings should not be resource intensive and that climate change is already a daunting challenge that must be faced together.

With these things in mind, everyone should do their part to protect the environment by adopting a zero-net approach to building construction. He called for a correspondingly high priority of harnessing the potential of solar energy, saving water and turning waste into wealth to the maximum extent possible.

Mr. Naidu noted that the Earth Center was built keeping in mind the current environmental challenges and such buildings represent the future. “Urban sprawl has been driven by gray infrastructure,” he noted.

Andhra Pradesh has played a key role in the nation’s green energy transition, he said, adding that Amaravati is being developed as an eco-friendly city with a futuristic vision.
