India’s Suraj Singh Mayanglambam finished 11th in the men’s Changquan Wushu final at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on Sunday, ending his campaign outside the medal positions after competing in a field of 21 athletes.Suraj, who performed at the Aichi Prefectural Martial Arts Hall, scored a total score of 9.683 points. The Indian wushu exponent produced a clean routine with no collisions and secured a full 5.00 in movement quality (A-score).He also scored a 2.00 in difficulty (C-score), while his overall performance (B-score) was 2.683. Despite strong marks in movement quality and difficulty, his overall score placed 11th in the final standings.Macau’s Kuong Chi Hin won the gold medal after finishing with 9.723 points, while his compatriot Chi Kuan Song took silver with 9.720. Both Macanese athletes took the first two positions in a close fight for medals.No seeding or pre-event ranking was used to determine the order in which the finalists played. Instead, each of the 21 athletes was assigned a random starting number between 1 and 21 either by computer or hand draw. So the draw determined when each contestant would take the floor.Changquan is one of the most dynamic disciplines in Wushu, requiring athletes to combine speed, strength, flexibility and precision during a routine lasting approximately 90 seconds.The discipline is based on traditional northern Chinese kung fu movements and is characterized by explosive and acrobatic techniques. Athletes perform lightning-quick punches, deep lunges, high kicks, and aerial jumps and spins as they attempt to execute their routines with precision.
