Fort Catholic Girls’ School celebrates 175 years with elaborate drill competition in Visakhapatnam

Fort Catholic Girls’ School held an inter-school drill competition on Saturday (September 19, 2026) at the police barracks grounds in the city as part of the institution’s ongoing 175-year celebrations. Five schools competed alongside the host institution.

The guest of honor was Sr. Rose, former Provincial of St. Joseph of Annecy, Visakhapatnam Province.

Among the participants were St. John’s Parish School, St. Aloysius Anglo Indian High School, St. Joseph’s High School (Waltair), Queen Mary’s High School and St. Joseph’s High School, Araku. Topics ranged from a Japanese fan exercise to “Wings of Tomorrow” and an anti-drug sequence.

High School St. Joseph’s, Araku, won the overall championship trophy and the best synchronization award for a presentation on substance abuse. St. Indian High School Aloysius Anglo and St. Joseph’s, Waltair, shared the runners-up cup, while St. John’s Parish secured third place. The host school’s non-competitive entry was on the theme “Darkness to Light, Roots to Wings”.

Alumni members served as torchbearers and Sr. Rose distributed awards.
