
Officials of the Directorate for Enforcement of Law (ED) on Wednesday raids and searches on the residences of three people, including former President Hyderabad Karnataka Education Society (HKES) Bhimashankar Bilgundi, in connection with charges of abuse of scholarships intended for medical students.
The case concerns cheating scholarships for postgraduate medical students on Mahadevappa Rampure Medical College (MRMC) operated by HKES.
Dr. Bhimashankar Bilgundi, Dean of MRMC College SM Patil, accounting Subhash Jagannath and Canar Bank Manager, MRMC Branch, was accused of embezzling scholarships for postgraduate medical students.
ED made a search for the residents of Dr. Bilgundi, Dr. Patil and Subhash Jagannath, according to sources. However, no information about any raid carried out in the bank’s house was available.
Up to 30 ED officers were formed into teams and on Wednesday morning raids on all three residents simultaneously. They examined financial transactions and documents seized during raids to watch the way money.
Charge
He was accused of 81.21 GBP crore scholarships designed for 282 students who chase postgraduate study between January 2018 and March 2024 in MRMC, were abused by Dr. Bilgundi, Dr. Patil, Subhash Jagannath and Canar Bank Manager MRMC branches. The case was registered in March 2024 at the Police Station (Cyber, Economic and Narcotics Crime).
According to the complaint, all four charges were involved in siphoning from the scholarship. Initially, the money of the scholarships was put into the accounts of the recipients’ students. Later they downloaded the amount through empty post-seated checks collected from all students in advance.
