US President Donald Trump said on Thursday that he was considering resuming large-scale strikes against Iran. He told Axios that he is nearing a major decision on whether to resume large-scale attacks on Iran.

“I have a big decision to make. Do I want to go in and destroy them (the Iranian regime) or not? It’s a big decision. Anything can happen to me,” Trump said in an interview published Thursday.

Trump’s remarks came a day after he said he hoped the war was coming to an end.

“Iran wants a deal, but…”

The US president told Fox News that Iran wants a deal but is “not ready” and said the US “controls” the Strait of Hormuz. Asked about another deployment or deal, he said, “I think we’ll win in the end.”

“Iran wants to make a deal. In my opinion, it’s not ready,” Trump said. “Either they make a good deal, or we don’t make a deal at all.”

IRGC claims to have hit tanker in Hormuz

Meanwhile, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) navy said in a statement carried by state media that it had hit a Togolese-flagged tanker while attempting what it called an “illegal passage” through the Strait of Hormuz. It said the vessel caught fire and stopped after the impact, according to Iran International.

“By illegally passing through the Strait of Hormuz, we will achieve nothing but the destruction of the offending vessel,” the IRGC navy said in a statement carried by state media.
