“With the passage of this law in the US, even if India were to limit the import of Russian oil, it would not help India. The high US tariffs would continue. To avoid these tariffs, India will have to completely stop buying energy from Russia and that would be very detrimental to our energy security,” said Kirit Parikh, a former member of the (Energy) erstwhile Planning Commission. “I feel that India should not buckle under US pressure and continue to get oil from all available sources, including Russia.”
