However, the rollout of PM E-bus Sewa remains at an early stage: concession agreements covering 4,470 e-buses in 56 cities have been signed, with the Center providing a subsidy of ₹24 per kilometer. The Union Government has earmarked ₹20,000 crore for this scheme by FY29 to support deployment of 10,000 city electric buses in 116 tier II and III cities.
