However, the rollout of PM E-bus Sewa remains at an early stage: concession agreements covering 4,470 e-buses in 56 cities have been signed, with the Center providing a subsidy of 24 per kilometer. The Union Government has earmarked 20,000 crore for this scheme by FY29 to support deployment of 10,000 city electric buses in 116 tier II and III cities.
