VIT’s graVITAs tech fest will start on September 18
Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) will organize its 17th edition of graVITAs tech festival from September 18 at its Vellore campus.
According to a press release, the three-day festival of techno-management will be inaugurated by Md. Alimuzzaman, Deputy High Commissioner of Bangladesh in Chennai, in the presence of G. Viswanathan, Founder and Chancellor, VIT; Pawan Vadapalli, Corporate Vice President and Global Head of Digital Business Services at HCLTech, and Prince Jayakumar, Executive Vice President and Global Head of Talent Acquisition at HCLTech,
The festival will offer a total of 227 events and more than 40,000 students are expected to participate. Of these, 76 events have already taken place, while the remaining 151 will take place during graVitas.
This year, 157 new events were introduced, including 31 hackathons, 62 workshops, 57 technical competitions. There would also be 10 business events and 67 other events. Older events such as Robowars, CookOff, Aerodominator and Quadcopter will also be held this year.
The total prize pool is estimated to be around ₹25,000 in cash and ₹1.5 million in kind prizes. Capital Hunt 2.0; ForgeAI, a 36-hour artificial intelligence hackathon; and kARniVRse, an AR/VR gaming experience, were among the professional events and technology exhibitions that were featured.
Other new events were the MotoVault, an auto expo and the Combat Vehicle Research and Development Establishment (CVRDE) exhibition, showcasing indigenous defense technologies. Students from over 300 educational institutions in India and abroad will participate in the festival.
Special events were also organized this year exclusively for the students of the school. An exclusive interactive session will be held with Aman Gupta, Panelist on Shark Tank India, Co-Founder of BoAt Lifestyle and Founder and CEO of OFF/BEAT.
Atul Sahgal, senior vice president and global head of talent acquisition at Cognizant, will be the chief guest at the September 20 event. Hemant Sahal, VIT alumnus and founder-CEO of Digii, will be the guest of honour, a release said.
