Four members of a family die in a house fire in Belagavi

Four members of a family were burnt to death in a fire at their house in Chavatgalli, Belagavi, Karnataka due to a short circuit on September 14.

Gajanan Damone (65), Roshan (21), Sharada (45) and Bharati (50) died. Two other family members — Priya Damone, 28, and Ganga Damone, 25 — were admitted to a private hospital for treatment of their injuries.

The police suspect that the refrigerator caught fire when a high voltage started flowing to the wire connected to it. The fire spread to other parts of the house. All members of the family were trapped in the structure of the tin shed and could not escape to safety.

Senior officers have inspected the house and an investigation is underway.
