CBI registers FIR in Disha Salian death case

The CBI has registered an FIR in connection with the death of Disha Salian, former manager of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput, officials said on Monday (14 Sep 2026).

Earlier this month, the Bombay High Court ordered the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to probe Salian’s death and arrest the Mumbai Police for failing to register an FIR for six years as its investigation “raises more questions than answers”.

The bench criticized the police for only treating the case as an accidental death for six years and pointed to “glaring inconsistencies” in the investigation.

Salian, who worked briefly as Rajput’s manager, died on 8 June 2020 after falling from the 12th floor of a residential building in Mumbai’s Malad area. The Mumbai Police has registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR) in the case.

A week later, Rajput was found dead in his apartment on 14 June 2020, sparking speculation of a possible connection between the two deaths.

The uproar following Rajput’s death led the Maharashtra government to have the CBI investigate her. The agency subsequently submitted a final report stating that Rajput died by suicide. However, the report has yet to be considered by the relevant court.
