Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Alelekar emphasized the teachings of Pope Francis of peace, unity and respect for all religions. He said, stood in sharp contrast to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, where 26 tourists were shot a few days ago.
Violence was the result of the fact that he could not practice the basic values of respect and the fraternity that Pope Francis has promoted throughout his life, added.
Governor led the meeting ceremony in the church of Lourde Forane in Thiruvananthapurama to mourn on Friday over the graduation of Pope Francis.
“Practicing peace”
At his address, he stressed that Pope Francis was not only a preacher of peace, but also his practitioner. “His life itself is all the main force for us,” said Mr. Alekar, showing the decision to live simply and humbly and leave the rich lifestyle of the Vatican for a modest residence. “Many sermons, but Pope Francis lived his teachings. His actions are a real example for all of us,” he added.
Mr. Arlekar urged the assembly to refuse discrimination and hatred and think about the Pahalgam incident as the inability to respect the common humanity shared by everyone.
The greatest honor
“Pope Francis has never preached hatred or violence. He showed us that the real service to God was found in the service of others, regardless of faith or background,” noted the governor, adding that the integration of the late Pontif into everyday life would be the greatest tribute to him.
