Three persons held in Vellore for possession of ganja

Three persons were arrested in Sevvur village on Saturday for possession of 1.25 kilograms of ganja, which was allegedly meant for retail sale in the area.

Police said the arrested persons were Y. Kader Basha, 21, M. Bashir Riaz, 33, and K. Abilesh, 28. They were residents of Gudiyatham.

Police said as part of the surveillance, a police team was patrolling at a check post in the village when they intercepted the trio coming on two-wheelers. While inspecting the vehicle, the team found contraband.

Police said the gang brought ganja from drug dealers in the area. A case has been registered. The arrested persons have been lodged in Vellore Central Jail. A probe is underway.
