The rates of various medical procedures within the modified Yashasvini medical system are likely to see an ascending revision soon. Expert committee established by the government to study current market rates of different procedures and revision design, recommended up to 50% increase in some complex procedures.
The Committee, headed by MLA for Kudligi Srinivas NT, which is an ophthalmologist, submitted his report on Tuesday to the main minister Siddarahaiaha. While for most procedures, standard revisions were recommended in the range of 15% and 25%, the Committee proposed a 50% revision for some complex procedures such as child cardiac surgery, oncology, neuro-operative and intervention radiology.
The largest scheme
Yeshasvini was launched in 2003 in Karnataka and was one of the largest self -financing medical systems in the country. When arrogya Karnataka was introduced in the state in March 2018, eight independent health systems were merged under one head, including Yeshasvini. The aim was to eliminate overlapping more health schemes and duplication in the release of the fund. However, for demand from members of farmers and cooperative companies, this program was re-launched in 2022-2023.
As part of the modified system, the recipients of the countryside can use cashless treatment, which costs up to 5 Lakh per year per year contribution of 500 GBP for the family of four members and 100 for each additional member. While the ceiling of the cost of treatment is the same for urban recipients, it must pay an annual benefit of 1,000 GBP for the family four and 200 GBP for each additional member. About 45.6 members of the cooperative bodies in urban and rural areas have registered this system this year.
He studied market rates
“We have studied current market rates in the last six months, have included several top doctors and leaders in the field. We met 13 times and recommended rationalizing the existing 2,128 procedures.
The MLA pointed out that the current rates set in 2017–2018 were too low for several procedures, she said that many private hospitals hesitated to be settled for this system. “From now on, we have 782 emphanced hospitals, but we hope that more hospitals will agree to the treatment of patients within this program,” he said.
As part of this program, 68 159 recipients were treated for the total price of 117.79 crore in 2024-2025. “It is estimated that more than 75,000 recipients are likely to use treatment in this financial year for the total cost of 127.5 Crore. With the addition of new procedures and the proposed review of rates for some procedures, we called on the government to issue additional grants of 40 GBP Crore for this program.
