St. Francis College hosts a conference on new technologies, sustainability

Francis College for Women, Hyderabad launched a three-day international multidisciplinary conference on ‘Emerging Technologies, Humanities and Sciences: Pathways to Global Sustainability’ on Wednesday, September 9, bringing together academics, researchers, industry experts and students to discuss sustainable solutions to contemporary global challenges.

The inaugural session was attended by V. Balakista Reddy, Chairman, Telangana Council of Higher Education (TGCHE) and J. Vatsala Rani, Senior Scientist CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT) as Guest of Honour.

Principal T. Uma Joseph emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary approaches in adopting new technologies while preserving traditions and cultural diversity. She said that no single field of knowledge is sufficient to solve the complex challenges of life and society.

Mr. Balakista Reddy spoke about the interconnected roles of emerging technologies, environmental sustainability and education. He described the 21st century as a knowledge revolution, highlighted the growing influence of artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies, and emphasized the need for appropriate ethical frameworks to guide their development and use.

Ms. Vatsala Rani emphasized the role of research and innovation in achieving global sustainability. She spoke about the work being done by research institutions and individuals across the country to develop solutions in various fields and encouraged students, especially young women, to pursue research and contribute to scientific innovation.
