ACB nabs Deputy Executive Engineer of Musheerabad Division in ₹10,000 bribe case
The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday caught the deputy executive engineer of quality control cell, Musheerabad division, allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹10,000 for issuing quality control certificates for contract works.
Accused officer Sai Ram was caught red-handed by ACB officials from City Range-1 after he allegedly demanded and accepted bribe from the complainant for the already issued quality control certificate for one job and for issuing the certificate for another job.
An amount of ₹10,000 was recovered from Sai Ram at his instance, the ACB said. The agency alleged that he acted improperly and dishonestly in the performance of his duties to obtain an undue advantage.
He was produced before I Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases at Nampally for judicial remand. The case is under investigation.
Sub-Registrar at Narayanpet
In a separate case, the ACB registered a criminal case against Lagisetty Venkat Swamy, Sub-Registrar, II. grade, sub-registrar’s office, Narayanpet district, and Kammari Nagesh, a private individual and owner of Inti Bojanam Mess, in connection with an alleged demand for bribe for completion of house registration.
According to the ACB, Venkat Swamy demanded ₹90,000 from the complainant on July 18 for showing official favor in completing the registration of the house. He allegedly accepted ₹50,000 as part payment through Nagesh on July 21 and subsequently demanded the remaining ₹40,000.
The agency alleged that Venkat Swamy acted improperly and dishonestly in the discharge of his official duties to gain undue advantage for himself.
Both Venkat Swamy and Nagesh were produced before the I Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases at Nampally for judicial remand. The case is under investigation.
The ACB said the details of the complainants in both the cases have been withheld for security reasons. She appealed to the public to report bribe requests by civil servants on her toll-free number 1064. Complaints can also be made through WhatsApp on 9440446106.
