1,744 booked for drunk driving in Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Future City

As many as 744 motorists were caught driving under the influence of alcohol during special enforcement drives conducted by Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Future City traffic police during the last week.

Hyderabad traffic police nabbed 341 drivers during a two-day special drive on September 4 and 5. Cyberabad traffic police arrested 329 offenders during the weekend special drive. In Future City, traffic police arrested 74 people for drunk driving from August 29 to September 4.

Separately, courts dealt with 213 cases of drunk driving in Cyberabad between August 31 and September 5. Fifteen people were sentenced to a fine and imprisonment, one was sentenced to a fine and community service, and 197 were fined. In Future City, the courts dealt with 41 cases of driving under the influence of alcohol during the same period. Four respondents were sentenced to a fine and social service, 37 to a fine.
