Tirupati MLA urges public to install eco-friendly Ganesh idols

MLA Arani Srinivasulu has urged the public to install eco-friendly clay idols instead of Plaster of Paris (PoP) idols during Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations. He inaugurated the office of the Sri Vara Siddhi Vinayaka Utsava Committee at the Tirupati Sports Complex on Sunday, September 6, 2026.

Addressing the gathering, he advised the organizers of Ganesh pandals in the city to conduct the immersion of the idols on September 16 in view of the Srivari Salakatla Brahmotsavams, which will begin on September 15.

He asked the organizers to ensure that the setup and management of the pandals reflect the spirit of devotion. He appreciated the committee for successfully conducting immersion processions in the city in a peaceful atmosphere for the past 25 years.

The MLA said, “With the coordination of all the departments, all the necessary arrangements at Vinayaka Sagar were done swiftly for the immersion event in the city on the Hyderabad Ganesh immersion line.”

Samanchi Srinivas, convener of the Sri Varasiddhi Vinayaka Mahotsava Committee, said permission would be given through a single window system to those setting up pandals if they contact their office. He said that a proposal to provide free electricity to festival pandals is currently before Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu and a positive decision on the matter is expected soon. He appealed to everyone to cooperate by immersing the idols on the third day (September 16).

In another event, Tirupati District SP L. Subbarayudu also advised the public to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi peacefully while following police guidelines and regulations.
