Kerala News: Eight Tamil Nadu students killed in road accident when car hits parked truck in Thrissur | Today’s news

Eight individuals, believed to be students from Tamil Nadu, were killed in a car crash in Kerala’s Thrissur, local police told PTI on Saturday. The tragic road accident happened around 11.40 pm on Friday when the vehicle in which the youths were traveling collided with a truck parked on the highway near Panambikkunnu in Kaipamangalam.

Although locals, firemen and policemen rushed to the spot to rescue the passengers, they all died on the spot. The impact left the car badly mangled, so rescue teams had to cut through the wreckage to extricate their bodies.

Their bodies were taken out of the car, which was registered in Tamil Nadu, and taken to the Thrissur Medical College mortuary here, police said. The car was reportedly heading towards Kodungallur from Guruvayur. Police suspect that the deceased were students from Tamil Nadu.

According to media reports, the incident happened on the under-construction stretch of NH-66 and the victims included seven engineering students from Dindigul’s PSNA College and the car driver.
