From worksheets to videos: Teachers use artificial intelligence tools to teach and improve the skills of students and themselves

Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education is getting a massive push from the Union and State Governments and teachers across education boards have started using AI tools to teach children, design worksheets and upskill.
Kavitha Ghosh, an English teacher at Delhi Public School, Bengaluru South, said, “AI has made the job easier for most teachers. I use AI to create differentiated worksheets for each student to solve at the end of each chapter. These worksheets contain all types of questions from critical analysis to logical reasoning and logic-based questions. Solving such worksheets will ultimately help them prepare for the tough board exam every year.”
Citing the example of her subject, she said: “I have used AI tools to generate English grammar worksheets that contain grammatical errors or spelling mistakes. These errors are also not easily detected by students. I also created some interesting visual representations using AI for Robert Frost’s poem Ice and Fire when I taught it to my students.”
She noted that AI tools provide teachers with basic questions, standard questions, challenging or difficult questions, and more. “It depends on my ability to give the AI precise commands and that’s where agile engineering skills come into play. Teachers now need to learn to be good agile engineers,” she said.
At the same time, Ms. Ghosh also recommends that students limit the use of artificial intelligence tools when carrying out school projects.
She said: “I give students two different projects. While one project has to be done at school, the other has to be done at home. In the projects that are completed at school, teachers can measure each student’s creative thinking, writing and knowledge skills. They can use AI for tasks to be completed at home. But we limit them from using the same words and sentences in their project. If not, I make them redo the projects.”
Teacher education
Samran Wiriyaphong, technical coordinator for K-12 at the Canadian International School, said it is important to improve teachers’ skills in AI.
He said that at the secondary school level, the school authorities are launching a year-long action research project based on the Professional Learning Community (PLC). “It’s called Assessment Redesign: Building Teacher Confidence in AI-Integrated Classrooms, where teachers collaboratively redesign assessments with AI safeguards such as human-in-the-loop checks, non-direct response scaffolding, and visible process,” he said.

In the middle grades, students use AI for student-directed inquiry—comparing perspectives in the humanities or testing strategies in math—while remaining accountable for validating and maintaining the originality of their work.”
Govt School Teachers AI Website
In Karwar’s Chendiya taluk, two government upper primary school teachers – Chandrakanth Gouda, a social studies teacher, and Josphine G. Lima, a mathematics and English teacher – have created an AI-powered educational website called “Shikshakara Shaikshanika Sampanmulagalu”.
Mr. Chandrakanth said, “The website offers audio and visual content on topics from various subjects including history, English, science, mathematics, social studies, etc. There are about 120 videos on various topics related to class 6, 7 and 8 syllabus. The AI tools were helpful in creating videos on history, kings and freedom movements.”
He added: “The idea came to us a year ago when we took the kids on a trip. We started curating the content, came up with video ideas and uploaded the content that was necessary for the kids and other teachers to get the most out of the website. It’s an open source platform and everyone can access it. Instead of showing educational videos on other social media platforms where irrelevant ads appear, the videos on our website can be used to teach kids.”
