₹ 56.5 crore road project to Sidil Mallikarjuna Swamy hill started

Public Works Minister Satish Jarkiholi on Friday launched a project to lay a road to Sri Sidil Mallikarjuna Swamy at Bettadapura in Periyapatna taluk of Mysuru district.

He said the ₹56.5 crore road project to the Chola period hill shrine would fulfill a long-standing demand of the people of the region. The hill had about 3,108 steps and required a path for easier access. With the commencement of the project, devotees and visitors would be able to reach the hill by road, he said.

Former Minister and Periyapatna MLA K. Venkatesh expressed satisfaction at the commencement of the work, which he said was one of the main aspirations of his political career.
