Elaborate security, crowd management plan for Tirumala Brahmotsavams

Tirupati District Superintendent of Police L. Subbarayudu and TTD CVSO Murali Krishna inspect various vantage points in Tirumala ahead of Brahmotsavams scheduled to start from September 15.

As thousands of devotees are expected to descend on Tirumala for the annual nine-day Brahmotsavam of Lord Venkateswara scheduled for September 15, the district police and TTD have jointly worked out an extensive security and traffic management plan, including curbs on private vehicles and increased surveillance to avoid congestion and ensure the safety of pilgrims.

Tirupati District Superintendent of Police L. Subbarayudu and Chief Vigilance and Security Officer (CVSO) Murali Krishna on Friday jointly inspected key stretches in Tirumala, including the Ring Road, major traffic junctions and important corridors for pilgrim movements, to assess the preparedness for the festival.

Mr. Subbarayudu said crowd control and traffic regulation would be the main focus, while command and control rooms would be equipped to monitor the situation round the clock and facilitate quick response to any emergency. Due to Tirumala’s limited parking capacity of around 2,500 to 3,000 vehicles, private and yellow vehicles would be regulated while dedicated parking facilities would be identified in Tirupati.

Devotees arriving in private vehicles will be requested to park at Tirupati and use APSRTC buses to reach Tirumala and return after darshan. He appealed to the pilgrims to cooperate with the police and TTD and use public transport more.

Special traffic restrictions are also in the works for Garuda Seva, the biggest draw of Brahmotsavams.

Details of the routes and points to which two-wheelers and private vehicles will be allowed, besides the timing of the restrictions, will be announced soon, Mr. Subbarayudu said.

Mr. Murali Krishna said that the security preparations were coordinated by the district police and TTD security, security and engineering wings. The more than 2,800 CCTV cameras installed in Tirumala have been integrated with the command control center, enabling round-the-clock surveillance through facial recognition and automated analytics. Additional cameras were deployed at identified pressure points to detect and manage sudden crowd surges.

Officials urged devotees to follow the guidelines and cooperate with the authorities to ensure a safe and orderly brahmotsavam.
